LilHide for macOS — last updated 10 September 2026
What LilHide stores on your Mac
LilHide saves your settings — whether icons hide at launch, whether the global shortcut is enabled, whether clicks pass through to the desktop, and similar preferences — locally on your Mac using the standard macOS preferences system. These settings never leave your computer. Deleting the app removes them.
The wallpaper image you choose
To conceal your desktop icons, LilHide covers them with a copy of your wallpaper. macOS often stores wallpaper images in locations a sandboxed app cannot read, so LilHide may ask you to select the image yourself using a standard macOS file picker.
If you do, LilHide stores a secure reference to that one file so it can read it again next time you launch the app. It reads that single image and nothing else. It never copies, uploads, modifies, or transmits it. You can clear the reference at any time from the app's menu.
What LilHide does not do
- It does not record, capture, or photograph your screen.
- It does not request Screen Recording, Accessibility, or Automation permissions.
- It does not read, move, rename, or delete your desktop files. Your icons are visually covered, never touched.
- It does not connect to the internet.
- It does not include third-party SDKs, trackers, or advertising.
Children
LilHide is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Material changes will also be described in the app's release notes on the Mac App Store.
