Privacy Policy
LilMirror · Last updated 11 September 2026
Who this covers
This policy applies to the LilMirror app for macOS, published by LilStudio, a sole proprietorship based in Quebec, Canada. It does not cover other LilStudio apps, which have their own policies.
The camera
LilMirror asks for camera permission the first time you open the mirror, never at launch. While the mirror is open, video frames travel from the camera to the preview on your screen and nowhere else. When you close the mirror, the capture session is stopped and torn down, which is what turns the green camera light off.
- Frames are never written to disk, not even temporarily.
- There is no snapshot, recording, or export feature.
- No image data is ever sent anywhere, because the app cannot send anything.
No network access
LilMirror ships sandboxed without the network entitlements
(com.apple.security.network.client and .server). macOS enforces
this at the system level: the app is structurally incapable of making a network
connection, so there is no telemetry, crash reporting, update check, or ad network
involved.
What is stored on your Mac
A handful of preferences are saved locally in the app's sandboxed
UserDefaults, and nowhere else:
- Whether compliments are shown.
- Which camera you picked, if you have more than one.
- Which compliments have already been shown, so they don't repeat.
- Whether the app launches at login.
Deleting the app removes these. They are not backed up to any LilStudio server, because there isn't one.
Purchases
LilMirror is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple handles the transaction and applies its own privacy policy to it. LilStudio receives anonymous, aggregated sales figures from Apple — unit counts by territory, for example. It never receives your name, email address, or payment details.
Children
LilMirror is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, regardless of age.
Your rights
Laws such as the GDPR, PIPEDA, and Quebec's Law 25 give you rights over personal data held about you — access, correction, deletion, portability. LilStudio holds no personal data about LilMirror users, so there is nothing to retrieve or erase. You are welcome to write and ask; the answer will be this paragraph.
Changes
If a future version of LilMirror ever changes what it accesses, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be noted in the App Store release notes.
