Privacy Policy

LilPass for iPhone — last updated 14 October 2026

LilPass collects nothing. No personal data, no usage data, no analytics, no crash reports, no identifiers. There is no LilStudio server, no account, and no third-party SDK. Your cards stay on your iPhone, or in your own private iCloud if you turn sync on.

Your cards

The cards you add (name, store, colour, icon, notes, the barcode's number and format, and the store's place if you set a reminder) are stored on your iPhone, inside the app. A copy of the card details is kept in a storage area shared only with LilPass's own widgets, so they can show your barcodes on the Home Screen and Lock Screen. Cards you lock with Face ID show a lock in widgets instead of their barcode.

iCloud sync (optional, off by default)

If you turn on iCloud Sync in Settings, your cards are stored in the private iCloud database of your own Apple Account, so they appear on your other devices. That data is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. LilStudio has no access to it and cannot read it. Turn sync off at any time.

Camera and photos

The camera is used only while you scan a card, to read its barcode. When you import a photo, you choose it in the system photo picker, and LilPass sees only that photo. Barcodes are read on your iPhone. No image is saved, and nothing is uploaded.

Location (only for store reminders)

If you set a store reminder on a card, LilPass asks for location access to show your position on the map and to remind you when you arrive. The reminder is a standard iOS location notification: iOS watches for the place and LilPass never tracks you in the background. Your location never leaves your iPhone. The map itself is Apple Maps. If you never set a reminder, LilPass never asks.

Face ID

Face ID is handled entirely by iOS. LilPass only receives a yes or no answer, and never has access to your face data.

Purchases

The unlimited-cards unlock is bought through the App Store. Apple processes the payment. LilPass only checks with Apple whether the unlock is owned, and never sees your payment details.

Settings

Your preferences (sort order, brightness boost, app lock, sync on or off) are saved locally using the standard iOS preferences system. Deleting the app removes them, along with any cards not synced to iCloud.

What LilPass does not do
