LilStats Support
CPU, GPU and RAM in your menu bar.
Getting started
LilStats has no Dock icon and no main window. After launching, look for your CPU, GPU and RAM readings in the menu bar.
- Click the readings to open the popover: big numbers, every core, and a minute of history.
- Choose Settings… in the popover to pick styles, colours, order and update interval.
- Choose Quit LilStats in the popover to quit.
Common questions
How do I change how a metric looks?
Open Settings and click a metric under Menu Bar. A grid of styles opens underneath; click one and the preview at the top, and your menu bar, update immediately. Use the arrows to reorder metrics, and the checkbox to hide one.
The menu bar is empty except for a small chart icon.
Every metric is turned off. Click the icon, open Settings, and tick at least one metric under Menu Bar.
GPU shows a dash instead of a number.
Your graphics hardware isn't reporting utilization to macOS. This happens on some older Intel Macs. LilStats shows a dash rather than guessing, and checks again every so often.
RAM looks different from another monitor app.
LilStats counts memory the way Activity Monitor does: app memory plus wired plus compressed. Some tools also count files macOS is only caching, which makes memory look fuller than it is.
Why don't I see separate P-cores and E-cores?
The split appears on Apple silicon Macs, which have both kinds. On Intel Macs every core is the same, so they're shown as one group.
The numbers stop moving smoothly.
Smooth animations pause automatically in Low Power Mode to save battery, and tiny changes jump straight to the new value instead of animating. You can also turn animations off in Settings.
How much battery does it use?
Very little. Readings are cheap, the menu bar is only redrawn when it would look different, and sampling stops while your display is asleep. For the lightest footprint, set the update interval to 5 seconds.
Does LilStats need any permissions?
No. If macOS ever prompts you for a permission and claims it's for LilStats, something else is asking — please email us.
How do I start LilStats automatically?
Open Settings and turn on Launch at login. You can also manage it under System Settings → General → Login Items.
How do I uninstall it?
Click the readings, choose Quit LilStats, then drag the app from your Applications folder to the Trash.
